Background
on Growing a Future
This
study provides the
New
Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) with
comprehensive information about the characteristics and needs of
adolescents with developmental disabilities who are living at home and will
shortly be leaving their educational settings. Interviews were completed
with parents and other caregivers to determine: (1) the types of
vocational and other support services provided to adolescents in school;
(2) parental satisfaction with school experiences and personnel; (3)
employment histories and anticipated vocational needs of adolescents; and
(4) the extent to which parents and adolescents were engaged in the
transitional process from school to adult life.
